Wow! What an amazing turn out for Collie Chaos on 1st July. Despite many of the 200 Rough Collies confirmed as attending dropping out, due to long journeys in soaring temperatures, we were still joined by 130 Rough Collies, 13 Smooth Collies and 9 other sibling dogs. Luckily, with breeze blowing off the reservoir and the 4 paddling pools, we managed to keep all the dogs cool. Most dogs had short bursts of running round playing happily together, then lying down in the shade. Due to the heat, the 8 mile walk was cancelled and those who were sponsored did the 3 mile walk before it got too hot for the dogs. The tombola and cake stalls did a roaring trade! Any non Collie items left over at the end of the day were donated to The Air Ambulance shop and Crowfoot Kennels & Dog Rescue were very grateful for items that people brought to donate to them. Geoff Duffield judged the fun dog show and the Best in Show was awarded to Michelle & Eddie Smith with their Blue Merle, Theo. They were presented with a trophy donated by Vic & Tim Griffiths, Dog Sculptures, who also attended the event and thoroughly enjoyed their day with us. Collie Rescue committee members attended and helped man the many stalls throughout the day. Due to the heat, many left early but were still glad they made the effort to join us. The total amount raised on the day was £2,537!! A massive thank you to everyone who contributed. Several people who are used to only seeing Rough Collies in the show ring, commented that they had never realised the true temperament of the breed, with so many dogs who had never met before running and playing happily together. Many thanks to everyone who donated towards the event ... My-Picture.co.uk, morethanamug.com, Peak Waste, McMurtry & Harding Vets, Ashbourne, The Nags head at Hulland, Lumbards Garage & pet foods, Longcliffe pet foods, The Pudding Room at Hognaston.
As so many were disappointed to miss out on all the fun we are doing a low key event at Carsington on Sunday 9th Sept. The field will be secured, paddling pools and footballs for the dogs. An optional 3 mile sponsored walk and a fun dog show around 12 pm. Please bring a picnic and folding chairs with you. We are asking for a voluntary donation of £5 per family and also donations of prizes for the tombola. All money raised on the day goes to Collie Rescue ( Rough & Smooth) UK

COLLIE CHAOS ... 20th AUGUST, 2017
Hi Everyone, Tinky here! Mum said she ordered the sun specially for Collie Chaos at Carsington and she wasn't kidding. On the morning, we woke up to glorious sunshine. We went for our normal walk at Carsington early morning, but then Mum and Dad abandoned us at home! Mum said they were going to organise CCC, but how could they do that without me, Asha and Poppy? Thankfully Mum realised she had left us at home and came to fetch us to join in the Chaos! Asha had been attacked by a nasty dog the day before, so Mum had to make sure she was OK with so many dogs around her. Asha, being lazy, lay under the table where Dad was running the tombola and she was quite happy under there. Poppy, being the tart that she is, was on guard in the entrance gazebo, begging cuddles off everyone who dared to look at her! We were joined by 54 Rough Collies and what I thought were naked Collies, but Mum said they weren't naked, they were Smooth Collies! We also had some Border Collies join us for the day and members of the public, who saw what was going on, came to join in the fun too. We all had a great time racing round the field playing together, playing with the footballs and space hopper (until a certain someone, by the name of Phoenix, burst it) and diving in the paddling pools to cool off. There was a lot of cheating in the fun dog show, but we all had good fun. Seriously though, Best in Show was very well deserved. It was lovely to meet so many dogs that we had never met before and they all said they are definitely coming next time. Mum said they are planning one massive CCC next year due to the work involved in getting everything organised. The date is set for Sunday, 1st July, 2018, so please make sure you are there with your Rough or 'naked' Collies' !! Thank you everyone who joined us on the day and helped to raise so much money for all those dogs less fortunate than ourselves. Mum would also like to thank every single person who helped set up, dismantle or man stalls on the day, also to everyone who took photographs of the day and allowed us to use them here. Apparently in July next year there will be either a 3 or 8 mile sponsored walk so get yourselves fit, trim and ready!!
See you all again in 2018 xx

COLLIE CHAOS .. 23rd April, 2017
A massive Thank You to everyone who attended, sponsored or donated to Collie Chaos Spring 2017. Yet again we were so lucky with the weather. Despite everyone claiming snow was forecast, the sun was out and it was a lovely warm day!
We were joined by 119 Rough Collies from all walks of life and also 13 other sibling dogs. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed themselves racing round and playing happily together. Several dogs went on a 3 mile walk while the extremely young and fit ones walked 8 miles round the reservoir.
People donated home baked cakes, tombola and raffle prizes and we managed to raise over £2,000 for Rescue in a few hours. We held a Fun Dog Show which was total CHAOS, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A huge Collie Cake arrived which was supposed to be a "guess the weight of the cake" competition, but Carsington didn't have any scales big enough to weigh him, so we opted for ' Name the Collie Cake'. I named the cake Buddy, in memory of our first blind rescue Rough Collie. The cake was won by the Hollis family and I think it will take them quite a while to eat all of it!
Several people bought items to donate to a local dog rescue who re-home all strays and Crowfoot Kennels were delighted with the huge amount of donations. All unsold books and Dvd's were donated to the Air Ambulance Charity shop at Carsington and a £20 donation was given to Brassington British Legion towards the cost of roof repairs, for the loan of 14 tables.
A massive Thank You to each and everyone of you for contributing and helping make the day a very happy, successful one. Also, thank you to the Rangers at Carsington Water for fencing the field off for us, allowing the dogs to run around and play together.
I am now awaiting a date in late August, early September from Chris Slater for the next CHAOS!
Yes, I need my head testing !! Pauline x

After Judging Picnic in aid of Collie Rescue raised over £400. A Raffle of a bottle of whiskey added another £100 to the total. A big THANK YOU to all who contributed food and donated.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC YEAR 2016 HAS BEEN ... SO MUCH FUN, LAUGHTER AND ENJOYMENT AND MAINLY THANKS TO PAULINE BRADBURY AND HER FANTASTIC FUNDRAISING IDEAS, PLUS HER TEAM OF HELPERS WHO ARE ALWAYS READY WITH A HELPING HAND ... IF YOU HAVE NOT MANAGED TO COME TO ANY OF THE EVENTS THIS YEAR, THEN IT WILL ALL START AGAIN IN 2017 ... WELL WORTH A TRIP OUT ... LOVELY PEOPLE, BEAUTIFUL DOGS, WONDERFUL SURROUNDINGS AND PAULINE ALWAYS MANAGES TO GET THE GOOD WEATHER.
On Sunday, 18th September, around 50 people, including Rescue Committee members Chris & Rod Slater, Samantha Hale, Annette Rebmann and Margaret Birch joined us for the sponsored walk at Carsington reservoir. Once again we were extremely lucky with the weather, a lovely sunny day, but not too hot for the dogs during the walk .It was lovely to meet even more new faces and their Rough Collies. Thirteen people completed the full 9 miles accompanied by eleven dogs. Nine people walked across the dam wall with seven dogs. When we arrived at Millfields car park some of the dogs changed handlers as some people were returning back to base, but their dogs were fit enough to complete the full 9 miles. I had Bonnie-Prince in my charge and Tinky walked with Paula. Although Tinky completed the walk 3 times last year she had had an operation on her ear ten days previously and I knew she would not walk too far this time. Bonnie-Prince had a wonderful time experiencing new smells and surroundings. Cleo, the stuffed Rough Collie joined the walk in the pram, but was swiftly evacuated when Poppy refused to walk when she could see traffic close by. Apparently she leapt out of the pram 50 yards from the finish line as she didn't want to be caught cheating ! All dogs received a rosette, the nine milers first, with the choice of a bottle of wine, cider, beer or chocolates as a thank you for their extreme efforts. The remaining rosettes and “goodies” were shared out between the Dam Wall walkers afterwards. While the walk was taking place, Rescue committee members sold Collie memorabilia and raffle tickets for the Pet Portrait and enjoyed meeting everyone, including several people who have rescue Rough Collies. Our regular volunteers sold homemade cakes, tombola and other donated items. Several members of the public called in to support our fundraising efforts and meet the dogs present. All the dogs enjoyed a cool dip in the paddling pool after they had completed the walk. Although not all sponsor money has been collected yet, we do know a huge amount of money was raised for Rescue on the day. It just goes to show you can have a brilliant day out in stunning surroundings without spending a lot of money and every time we meet, new faces join us. The Pet Portrait by Phil Travers was won by Jean Wild and there were second and third prizes of collie printed mugs, donated by Mary Jefferson, with a few bottles of wine and chocolates donated by a Rescue Committee Member going to other ticket holders. A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED ON THE DAY. We are now planning Collie Chaos 2017 and hope to hold two events next year, one late April and another late August!! Please keep an eye on the website for details! (AFTER Christmas) as both events will be restricted to 200 Rough Collies and may also be a ticket only event with all ticket costs going to Collie Rescue. Pauline x
BLIND BONNIE-PRINCE STEPPING OUT AND BONNIE-PRINCE AND TINKY AFTER THE WALK WITH PAULINE AND ROD SLATER
On Sunday, 14th August, 2016 around 60 people and 45 Rough Collies joined us at Carsington Water for a day of fund-raising and general enjoyment. People donated cakes to sell and prizes for the Tombola stall. Rescue Committee members, Annette Rebmann and Samantha Hale joined us to meet the rescue dogs who attended and it was lovely for them to see how the dogs were progressing in their new homes. Once again we were very fortunate with the weather and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed the paddling pools provided for them. Sam and Annette sold Collie Memorabilia on behalf of Rescue, along with other items people had donated for us to sell on the day. We were amazed at the amount we managed to raise for Rescue. Several new faces appeared at this meeting and it is always lovely to meet and greet people that we speak to on the phone and via social media and, of course, their doggies. A very big thank you to each and every one of you who constantly supports these fun days for the dogs, all of which are for a very good cause. Looking forward to seeing you all at our next event, the nine mile sponsored walk, (if you're brave enough) on the 18th September. For those who aren't brave enough, there will be a tombola, cake stall and general sales to keep you all amused, plus of course, loads of people and their dogs to chat to. Pauline x
REVIEWS Jayne Banks... I absolutely 100% recommend reading Tyler’s story, it's an emotional roller coaster, but beautifully written and will leave you in admiration of Pauline and her husband. Truly I have never had the honour of meeting such a wonderful lady and Miss Tyler is just adorable. Loved her before, but after reading her story I feel she's part of the family too.
Laura Niemiec Romano... I bought Tyler's book a couple of months ago. Until you read this, you will never really understand all the trials that Tyler and her family have gone through because of poor breeding practices. But mostly, you will be amazed at what this beautiful animal has endured throughout all her physical problems and has been one of the most beloved furbabies I have ever come across. Tyler is such a beautiful, sweet, loving, funny soul that you just want to laugh and cry and hold her to you and wish that you could take away all the bad things that have happened to her so far in her short life. Pauline and Steve are two of the bravest people to try and make Tyler's life as full and wonderful as this little girl deserves! Bravo to Pauline for writing about such an amazing Collie! Thank you!
Diane Marples ... Brilliant book. Picked it up and didn't put it down till I'd finished . What a journey. Made me cry, made me angry, and laugh. A must for anyone who loves collies .. I give it 10 out of 10 .and I’m not a book reader
Carole Copland... Fabulous book, couldn’t put it down. A must read for collie lovers. 10 out of 10 from me.
Phil Travers... This book paints a wonderful picture of such a resilient, brave collie, who has endured far more than any animal should. Also her wonderful family, who have been there for her every step of the way. It's a journey that will have you laughing and crying in equal measure, and I whole-heartedly urge you to buy a copy. Tyler's story will touch you, I guarantee it.
Jenny Mansell... fantastic book if you haven’t read it I suggest you do.
Mary Louise Jefferson ... loved the book and the stories of a clever little dog ..... you did a great job sharing all the ups and downs in Tyler’s story so far!
Gill Simkiss... Tyler’s book is a must read for all dog lover's not only for the collie breed. The trials and physical problems this wonderful dog has endured in her short life are unbelievable. I cried, I laughed and then got angry that this has happened to a wonderful dog. I take my hat off to the wonderful Pauline for taking on what a lot of us would not contemplate. Thank you, Pauline, for writing this book and giving us an insight of life with Tyler.
Shirley Daley... Wonderful story of a brave collie with lots of problems but lovingly overcome x
Barbara Richards ... A must read about the gorgeous Tyler. I laughed and cried , sometimes at the same time. Tyler's story is ongoing, she's still making us laugh and cry. Tyler has the best of people, Pauline and Steve , helping her through it all. Buy the book, read the book, learn about Tyler's journey so far, it leaves you wanting more.
Mary Kerr ... What a wonderful book to give us insight into the trust an animal puts in us .To be able to help them overcome their fears and overcome obstacles most would deem impossible ,only with the help of a special person is this possible. One word ... inspirational .
Melaniie Tolson ... I have both books, they are both great books. It generally takes me a long time to read books, but it only took me a few days to read these books . It's great to have at last a book written by someone who knows and cares for rough collies as I do. It's lovely to hear about all the dogs and it reminded me of my dog Sandy and I have 2 rough collies at present with health problems so it was good to know someone understands. I'm looking forward to seeing if there's a third book I will definitely buy it.
Karen Casey... I bought 6 copies of each book and gave it as Christmas presents. Each and every one of my friends and family members who received a copy were mesmerised by the book. They laughed, they cried, they got really mad but above all they loved the book and if you don't buy a copy you are missing a really good read about a special little dog and all her trials and tribulations.
Kay Fehrman ... One of the best books you will ever read packed with human and collie emotion and unending love.
Anita Parkinson... Well, all I can say is anyone who has ever had the pleasure of being owned by our majestic rough collies really needs to read both books if possible. They will make you laugh, cry, sob your heart out and be warned once you start to read you will not be able to put them down. Absolutely amazing the dedication of all concerned. Best books I have ever had the pleasure of reading and for such a worthy cause.
Marilyn Whitbread... Every collie owner should have and read Tyler’s book. To read about what Pauline, her husband and Tyler have gone through is just unbelievable and heart-breaking, and yet so inspirational ! It also serves as a reminder to be grateful for our own healthy collies.
Shirley Pitt... An absolutely lovely book to read. Beautiful.
Michele Laher... Excellent book ,loved it. Now waiting for the sequel.
Linda Wheelock Gruno ... I loved this book! It was both touching and sad to read about the plight of collies which are victims of poor breeding and the humans who only see the collies as money makers. Touching knowing there are people who work very hard to rescue these poor sweeties, among them Pauline and her husband who both have a huge heart!!
Elaine McCrimmon... I loved both books, you laughed, you cried, happy and sad you have the greatest gift Pauline. Buddy and Tyler have a special place in our hearts. You and Steve are just amazing parents. Everyone - this book is a must.
Alison Finch... Fantastic !!!!.. so sad but so funny and what makes it more amazing and special is that I have the pleasure of knowing Tyler and love her to bits. She keeps going, bless her, no matter what is thrown at her !!!!!. I enjoyed and loved her company while she escorted me and kept me amused on her 3rd sponsored walk round Carsington Water bless her... We love Tyler.
COLLIE CHAOS @ CARSINGTON
Well ! It was certainly chaos with 79 Rough Collies joining us for the day. The weather was absolutely perfect, a little too warm at times. People travelled from all over the U. K. to join us for the day with several people staying in Bed and Breakfast the previous night. The buffet was delicious and people baked cakes to share for desert. Stephanie Presdee clipped dog nails for donations to Rescue. Alison Finch ran a tombola with all the prizes that were donated. Karen Casey sold Collie jewellery with a £4 donation from every sale donated to Rescue.
Some activities with the dogs had to be cancelled as it was too hot to have them racing around, but they all thoroughly enjoyed the doggy paddling pools. The only drawback was that several people just turned up on the spur of the moment unannounced. Fortunately food was available at the café on site. The sight of 79 Rough Collies all greeting each other happily and playing together with no aggression was a sight for sore eyes! We managed to hold the fun dog show even though the Judge had a bad case of amnesia and completely forget where she was supposed to be and on which day. However, the day was saved by Derek Allsopp. I bet he doesn't laugh when he is Judging at Crufts like he did on this day!
