FUNDRAISING,
COLLIE CHAOS - Sunday, 7th July, 2019
Well, we did it again! Another fun filled day with 137 stunning Rough Collies and numerous sibling dogs. The weather was perfect and all the dogs had great fun running, playing and paddling.
Congratulations to Jean Wild and Caesar (Rescue dog) on winning the Best in Show title and trophy.
It amazes me that people travel from so far afield to join us. I think the furthest travelled was from Edinburgh, although Jon, a Smooth Collie travelled by boat from Gibraltar on holiday to join us. Thank you so much to the many companies who donated raffle / tombola prizes, everyone who attended, everyone who could not attend but still donated and not forgetting those who helped set up and dismantle at the end of the day. Collie Chaos has grown tenfold since the first one back in 2015, which proves how popular the event is and next year we need dedicated help long before the event. Carsington is the perfect location and many people are amazed that the Rangers do not charge for the use of the field. (This is why they get any leftover cakes at the end of the day), Crowfoot Kennels & Dog Rescue were over the moon with the mountain of donated items left for them by the entrance. I apologise for the fact that the loud speaker let us down on the day (the first time I forgot to check the batteries the day before).
Four very large donated teddy bears were re-homed during the event !
Collie Rescue committee members joined us and thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many re-homed dogs at the event. We were let down by several professional photographers at the last minute, so regrettably we didn’t manage to get a huge photo featuring every dog present.
Tinky and Asha barely moved the day after, which isn’t surprising as they were constantly on the go for 12 hours.
Well done to everyone who managed either the 3 or 8 mile sponsored walk and Thank you!! The total amount raised from the event is £2,365.20p. !! A huge Thank you to each and every one of you. Without your support we could not help so many dogs in need !
Next year Collie Rescue Committee are organising and running the fun dog show as organising everything is too much for me now Collie Chaos is so popular.
Hope to see you all next year,
Thank you!!
Pauline and Tinky

COLLIE CHAOS - Sunday, 1st July, 2018
Wow! What an amazing turn out for Collie Chaos on 1st July. Despite many of the 200 Rough Collies confirmed as attending dropping out, due to long journeys in soaring temperatures, we were still joined by 130 Rough Collies, 13 Smooth Collies and 9 other sibling dogs. Luckily, with breeze blowing off the reservoir and the 4 paddling pools, we managed to keep all the dogs cool. Most dogs had short bursts of running round playing happily together, then lying down in the shade. Due to the heat, the 8 mile walk was cancelled and those who were sponsored did the 3 mile walk before it got too hot for the dogs.
The tombola and cake stalls did a roaring trade! Any non Collie items left over at the end of the day were donated to The Air Ambulance shop and Crowfoot Kennels & Dog Rescue were very grateful for items that people brought to donate to them.
Geoff Duffield judged the fun dog show and the Best in Show was awarded to Michelle & Eddie Smith with their Blue Merle, Theo. They were presented with a trophy donated by Vic & Tim Griffiths, Dog Sculptures, who also attended the event and thoroughly enjoyed their day with us.
Collie Rescue committee members attended and helped man the many stalls throughout the day. Due to the heat, many left early but were still glad they made the effort to join us.
The total amount raised on the day was £2,537!! A massive thank you to everyone who contributed.
Several people who are used to only seeing Rough Collies in the show ring, commented that they had never realised the true temperament of the breed, with so many dogs who had never met before running and playing happily together.
Many thanks to everyone who donated towards the event ... My-Picture.co.uk, morethanamug.com, Peak Waste, McMurtry & Harding Vets, Ashbourne, The Nags head at Hulland, Lumbards Garage & pet foods, Longcliffe pet foods, The Pudding Room at Hognaston.
As so many were disappointed to miss out on all the fun we are doing a low key event at Carsington on Sunday 9th Sept. The field will be secured, paddling pools and footballs for the dogs. An optional 3 mile sponsored walk and a fun dog show around 12 pm. Please bring a picnic and folding chairs with you. We are asking for a voluntary donation of £5 per family and also donations of prizes for the tombola. All money raised on the day goes to Collie Rescue ( Rough & Smooth) UK
